Pet Boarding & Grooming
If you’re planning to leave town for a few days or just need someone to watch your pet for the next 24 hours, we’d be more than happy to take care of your pet for you. We understand that it can be difficult to leave your pet, even for a short time, but we can assure you that your loved one will be in good hands. At Eastside Animal Hospital in East Lansing, we provide pet boarding accommodations to dogs, cats, rabbits, and other pocket pets; non-patients are welcome.
We also offer basic pet grooming services, because regular grooming and bathing are a necessary part of keeping pets healthy. Grooming appointments also give us an opportunity to check for any abnormalities of the skin, ears, and eyes.
Boarding & Grooming Requirements
To have your pet groomed and/or boarded at our facility, we require them to be up-to-date on their vaccinations, and to have tested negative for internal parasites within the year. Requirements include:
What to Expect When Boarding Your Pet
We’re always happy to provide food and bedding for our guests. However, you may want to bring their regular food–especially if your pet is on a special diet. Bedding taken from home will smell familiar and comforting to your pet, so be sure to bring along their favorite. Please understand, though, it may become soiled. Include written instructions for your pet’s food and medications (if they have any). Our staff members will always be available to administer your pet’s medication when they need it. All boarding dogs are walked 4 times a day, so they’ll get plenty of exercise and attention. For the safety of each of our guests, we keep everyone separated at all times.
We understand that for some pets, especially first-timers, boarding can be stressful. We’ll do everything we can to make your loved one feel comfortable and well cared for during their stay with us.
Our pet grooming services include bathing, brush outs, and nail trims. For dog owners, we recommend scheduling regular bathing and grooming appointments to keep their skin and coat nice and healthy. Grooming has many benefits, such as:
- Reducing shedding
- Nail trims improve foot structure and posture
- Early detection of skin and ear issues
- Detection of parasites
- Reducing risk of infection of the ears, eyes, nails
- Clean, healthy skin and shiny coat
For dogs that require special haircuts (such as Cockers and Poodles) we recommend seeing a trained groomer every 6-8 weeks. A properly groomed coat provides the best insulation against the cold, and optimal cooling in the heat. If your pet requires some level of sedation or anesthesia to allow for safe and complete grooming, we can provide this by appointment. Cats can be a special challenge, and we can offer several options to make your cat’s grooming experience as safe and stress-free as possible.
